I just love this trailer for Walk on the Wild Side, the version on You Tube doesn't work if you live outside of the UK so I have been a little sneaky and converted it and stuck it here for you to enjoy if you cannot see it on You Tube

Passion

I am one of those people who likes the TV on in the evening, but I also surf whilst watching it with one eye. But recently I have stopped watching even with one eye when the soaps are on, there is something so unreal about east enders and coronation street that I have lost complete interest even with one eye. I used to love The Bill and I do enjoy watching that but that seems to have come off the boil... maybe its the budget cuts or maybe I have changed?

I have loved watching Heston Blumenthal's new cooking programme on Channel 4, he is a genius and I love his way of solving a problem... A layered drink... click this link and enjoy I am one of those people that really do want to go his restaurant and try the tasting menu. There are people everywhere in all walks of life who are just natural brilliant people from social workers to brain surgeons, preachers to chefs, we all know them, we have seen them , heard them or watched them they stick out a mile at what they do, Heston is one of those people. It isn't a secret ingrediant that he or they have, it is just a passion for what they do. The greatest of all Passions is about to happen again, the Easter Story, Christ's Passion for Man.

Easter is the most important festival in the Christian calendar. It is the commemoration of Jesus's death and his rising from the dead, also known as the resurrection. It comes at the end of Lent. The week leading up to it is called Holy Week.View of Jerusalem

Palm Sunday is the first day of Holy Week and celebrates Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem riding on a donkey. Crowds of people came out of the city to greet him, throwing down palm branches on the road. Many churches give out small crosses made from palm leaves, as a reminder of Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem and his death on the cross.

On Good Friday Christians remember when Jesus ate the Passover meal with his disciples, breaking bread and drinking wine, which is now known as the Last Supper. Since then this meal has been symbolically re-enacted by many Christians as a way of drawing closer to God. This is called the Eucharist or Holy Communion, which means 'thanksgiving'. It is a reminder that Jesus sacrificed his life for mankind and is also a part of many services throughout out the year.

The Bible tells us that, later that night, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot. After his arrest, Jesus was brought before the Jewish high priests who found him guilty of blasphemy because he called himself the Son of God. They handed him over to the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate.

As was the custom at the time of the Feast of Passover, Pilate gave the crowds the choice as to which of the two prisoners should be freed: Jesus, or Barrabas, a notorious criminal. Ironically, the the same crowd who had welcomed Jesus with palm branches a few days earlier now chose Barrabas to be released, and Pilate condemned Jesus to death by crucifixion.

Painting on tiles of Jesus carrying the crossOn Good Friday, many churches hold services meditating on the events leading up to Christ's death: his interrogation, flogging, the mocking by the Roman soldiers, and his journey with the cross to Golgotha, the place of his death. Finally he was stripped naked and nailed to the cross, where he hung in agony for three hours, jeered at by the crowds, before he died. This is the day when people traditionally eat hot cross buns, because the cross on the bun is a reminder of the cross Jesus died on, and a reminder of the Christian belief that Jesus died to save us all.

Jesus was taken down from the Cross and laid in a Tomb to be made ready for death, this couldn't be done as The Sabbath had started and it would be another dau before Christ could be made ready for a burial.

Easter Sunday marks Jesus' resurrection. The Bible tells us that Mary Magdalene went to the tomb to make Jesus ready, followed later by some of Jesus' disciples. They discovered Jesus' body had gone and that the tomb was empty. Jesus then appeared to Mary and many of his disciples, speaking with them on separate occasions during the following forty days. As he left them for the last time, Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit so the disciples would know God would never leave them. He then ascended into heaven. The Church celebrates this on Ascension day.

A nice post for the end of the year

I guess today is a day for looking back, and as I was looking back I started to think about when I was a young child and Sunday afternoons.
I loved Sunday afternoons, it was lazy time, as a family we would all watch TV if we weren't out with friends playing or things. We always had a nice tea of toast, jam, pate, crumpets, Jamaica ginger cake, blue ribbon biscuits and big mugs of hot sweet milky tea.(I think I would be sick if I tried to drink that now) But by far the best thing was, what was on TV, it was a programme that was made only a few miles away from our house, and I think became one of the worlds biggest TV programmes of the 1970's. The Muppet Show. Mrs EB and I have been fortunate enough to visit the mock up theatre at the MGM Studio's Florida and it is wonderful. I defy anyone to go and not laugh. The TV programme was actually made at the ATV Studio's at Aston Cross, Aston, Birmingham.

Anyhoo I was just looking on You Tube today and found what I think was one of the best sketches ever.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did then and now.

Happy New Year

My friend Duncan

As long term readers of my blog will know I have a friend who was involved in a really nasty accident in 2006, my friend Duncan who is one of the most articulate and safety concious people I know, was filming a safety video for his company, he was filming how to use a safety flair when the flair miss-fired and went into his stomach.

I know how safety concious Duncan is, I was lucky enough to be invited for a day trip on Duncan's previous boat, and we went out for a wonderful trip. That trip was planned with maps and buoys and GPS tracking. We were told where the life vests were. Mrs EB and I had a wonderful day and we were both very upset by Duncan's accident. Many prayers were said, and thanks be to God, Duncan is mending well, OK he'll never be 100% better, but by crikey, I know Duncan and he won't stop trying to getting better.

Duncan who is a fighter; amazed nearly everyone who was involved in his emergency care, after two years of tireless fund raising he and a lot of very good people have raised £50,000!!! anyhooo please watch this video

Music from the Dr

I am a massive Dr Who fan I love the adventure and the morality of the show, I love David Tennant's energy and passion that come out in the show. I know there are things wrong with it, I don't care. Christmas TV

My Favourite bit on TV over Christmas that made me laugh was this bit on Harry Hill's Christmas TV Burp, I actually had tears rolling down my cheeks whilst this little bit was on. I hope you enjoy it too.

It would seem I am part of a dying breed, a Blogger, those that have blogged over the past 15 or months from a circle of friends have dropped off as they have felt it has served them for their needs, others didn't like it. Me I toyed with giving up last January but a few friends asked if I would carry on and to be honest I enjoy blogging putting up my thoughts and musings. Its My Blog, what I say goes! If you don't like tough, if you enjoy it great, if you agree with my views that OK, if you don't agree...that's OK also. A friend has just stopped blogging and I will miss her blog, she was an honest blogger and shared her grief and upsets, she also shared her thoughts and musings about life. Each Blog is personal and as a reader you are privileged to be let into someone’s life unfortunately some people don't respect.

Another week has gone by

I have had a little spurt of work as the London company I do some work for are away from today until Monday, so they had to clear the decks. That has been really nice as I have had a few things to do. One ad was a remake of an advert that they had made last year but had lost the original parts, for a shopping channel on TV, so I had to emulate what they had already mad, I think I did OK.

I am still not feeling great, but I am feeling a little better, so that's a good thing. I just wish I could wake up and not have a headache....one day.

Tonight is a Church Meeting so my evening is taken up with that.
Not much has happened in the last week really a little work, shopping and cooking. Mrs EB got a couple of films out on Saturday evening.....well one was called "Them" (we do enjoy a good scary film) and we put it on...the opening scene is in a car a Mother and Daughter...it is raining... they start to talk...it's in Hungarian...with subtitles....they crash...a few things happen...scene ends ...we cut to a school....and it's a French class all in French....with subtitles...Mrs EB says ermmmm I think this film is all in subtitles...as it said subtitles on the box!!!!!

It was a good film and actually a little short with a very abrupt ending. The other film she got was excellent "The Prestige" a sort of who or how done it!!!!

Over the Rainbow

(If you click the picture of the CD above it will take to an online links to buy the CD)

I watched Challenge Anneka last night. Her challenge was produce a 12 track CD full of stars in 5 days and have a gala release!!! This CD had to include the song Somewhere over the Rainbow and a choir with Boys and Girls from Hospices. All the proceeds are to go to the Childrens Hospice's in the UK. They chose a theme of "Song's from the Shows" (wonder where I have heard that theme before?) The CD was released yesterday it is excellent, it can be found at your local supermarket, or Woolies or ITunes!!!!
It was an excellent programme, I cried like a little girl when one of the Children passed away a day before gala. Actually I cried most of the way through the programme....but as Mission Team Leader says I am a big poof anyway.

The Princes' and Channel 4

I have worked in the world of the media for a few years now doing various jobs. On the whole I have really enjoyed working in the media, it has its ups and downs, but I am usually very proud of the media in the UK, but not today.
I am not a royalist in any way or form, as most of my friends know I really do think they are a complete waste of time and money. I will also defend everyone’s right to free speech and that right is paramount for free speach in News and Journalism in this amazing country of ours.

I have to say what Channel 4 are about to do today is totally wrong. Channel 4 are to show a documentary about the fatal car crash in which Diana Princess of Wales died, including pictures from the Paparazzi which were taken at the scene. The Princes William & Harry have asked for some respect and have asked for certain pictures of the car crash in which their mother is involved not be shown. Channel 4 have refused. I cannot believe Channel 4 can be so callous or so wrong on this; it is not News it is just digging up old ground and will not add anything apart from some distressing pictures. All that will do is upset two young men who have been through more than enough. William and Harry have every right to ask for this, as it is an invasion into Diana's and their privacy, and, as they have said, it will cause them great distress. Channel 4 have a code of taste and decency and above all a moral choice to William and Harry and their late mother also to the British public not to show these pictures.

The Doctor will be in the House at 7pm

Huzzzaahhh yes!!! The Timelord will be on our TV's again this evening at 7pm. I have been a fan of The Doctor since my early childhood.

Jon Pertwee as the Dandy Doctor (with assistant Jo Grant) was a favourite followed by
Tom Bakers Jelly Baby eating Doctor with Sarah Jane (ohh yes Timelord...Jelly Baby cakes? mmmm)
I was so thrilled when Russell T Davies brought back Doctor Who and Christopher Eccelstone was an excellent choice and I loved his manic eyes and eccentric way. David Tennant had me worried when it was announced he would be taking over the TARDIS...how daft of me, he is tops. So please, no calls between 7 and 8pm Saturdays.

Harry Potter, work and quiet nights in

I am a very big Harry Potter fan, I much prefer the books to the films, though I have enjoyed the films as well. Today JK Rowling announced the title of the 7th and final book in the series “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” When this will be finished who knows, but I am guessing mid 07 with a publishing date of mid December for the Christmas market…

Oh yes you can buy an adult edition of these books, it isn’t just the cover that is different
Today has been different!! I went to do a location record, and met Philtheus. It was an interesting project which I enjoyed greatly. Then back home to edit it, and wait patiently for a job to arrive from London. At the time of writing I am still waiting…ho hummm.

Last night I was going to have a quiet night in, a bit of food, a bottle of Red and the TV, The Bill was on then Torchwood. As I settled in with a nice log fire the doorbell went, it was Mrs EB’s brother, a nice surprise, I poured him a glass of vino and we had a chat he had come to drop off some presents from relatives, always nice. Anyhoo he left,The Bill came on, I was there for the night total bliss …the phone goes, it is Mr Hudson the coffee shop owner….With a “Where do you live again on Jockey Road?” so I poured him a glass and waited for the doorbell. I never did get to watch The Bill after the first set of adverts or any of Torchwood, oh well, they were both nice surprise visits and it really was a wonderful surprise to see Mr Hudson again and catch up.

Recording and TV Programmes

Being in sound is quite possibly the best job in the world. I love tweaking and messing and hopefully solving problems and making things sound even better. I get some challenges that have stretched me to the end of my knowledge and I have asked for help in learning how to achieve something, that is good, it means I am still learning. I have the most amazing studio it’s based around Digidesign’s Pro Tools 7.1, which is the best software on the market and is used in about 99% of the worlds top recording Studio’s and Film and TV studio post production suites. So why do programmes like Spooks and the such like show the impossible?

Here’s a common scene, someone has recorded a telephone call onto a cassette or whatever media they recorded it onto, and they “Go to the Lab” a boffin in a white coat? Tweaks it for 30 seconds, then the PC or Detective will go can we just hear just the background noise, I think it’s a bloke with a limp walking past whistling something? And hey presto from a mixed piece of audio we now have a multi tracked piece of audio all recorded separately sounding as clear as anything?
Now when I record music and I record all the individual elements; I can then “Solo” one instrument (listen to just that item) If I buy a CD of music I can’t do that, even in my studio, I don’t have the component parts, it’s a finished mixed track, if I record a Telephone call, (illegal by the way without full permission from both parties or without a home office warrant) it is a mixed piece of audio even with the greatest knowledge in the world and the best equipment what they show on TV cannot be done, you cannot remove 1 frequency without removing everything else that is actually on that frequency, In the same way you cannot remove the eggs and flour from a baked cake, so to have just the bloke walking and whistling you would have to have recorded it separately!!!!! I am not saying I know everything about recording and how to do everything, but I do know what is actually possible to achive in the real world.
So stop messing with my head Grrrrrrrrrrrr

RANT OVER
Some favourite pastimes:-

1. Eating Out
2. Going out for the day with Sheley
3. Going to the Theatre
4. Going for a beer
5. Having a BBQ

Again in no particular order I am game for any of them at anytime.

The Deadliest Catch

I have been watching a programme on The Discovery Channel called the Deadliest Catch. It is amazing! it is true life on the edge stuff. These guys go out to Bearing Sea and Catch Crab, sounds easy doesn’t it? Mmmmm It is one of the deadliest jobs in the world! I had never even thought how crab gets in my sarnies really. Well these guys put to Sea in the Winter in enormous seas with swell of upto 15 metres with Ice growing faster on the boats than they can smash off. If they fall into the sea they have less than 2 minutes to be saved, which in all probability won’t happen…. Even the boats get swamped and sunk. These are very hard men with rules of their own. I have been riveted watching this series, I cannot think of a Job I would like do less than what these brave men do, but the pay can be fantastic, for a little over 4 weeks work one boat earned $600,000 and each member of the crew earned $45,000. To me it wouldn’t be worth it, but they are always looking for new crew members to replace to the ones who fall overboard.
